Dr. Sybille Facca is an orthopedic surgeon in Hand Department of Pr. Liverneaux at Strasbourg Hospitals University since 2007 and she is also Ph D. student under direction of Pr. Jessel at INSERM U977 “Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering” in Strasbourg University, France. She received her medical diploma in 2007 from University Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg, France for the work on treatment of osteoporotic bone distal radius fractures with calcium phosphate cement and locking-plates. She received her master diploma in 2008 from University Henri Poincaré, Nancy, France for her work on active multilayered capsules for in vivo bone formation, in the laboratory INSERM U595 in Strasbourg.
She is hand surgeon since 2007 and worked on congenital malformations, development of mini-external fixation, locking-plates on metacarpal bones and radius, cement-pinning of radius fractures, mallet-fingers orthesis and new system of digital tourniquet. She is principal investigator of a clinical study, with Pr. Obert in Besançon Hospitals University, on fingertips regeneration after distal fingers amputations treated with occlusive dressing, with bacteriological and biochemical studies. She is developing with Pr. Liverneaux in France and Dr. Mantovani in Brazil, the robotic assisted surgery for microsurgery, endosurgery and hand surgery.
She joined the INSERM U977 in 2007 and she is focusing her research on nerve, bone and cartilage regeneration and drug delivery systems of bone cements or nanofibers membranes. Since 2009, she is also is working on improvement of osteointegration of coated orthopaedic implants with animal studies, with the lab of Pr. Agarwal from Mechanical Department of Florida International University, where she was as a visitor researcher for a collaboration during 6 months in 2011.
Dr. FACCA is a co-author of 27 peer-reviewed publications and she is a referee for 3 scientific journals.
